PINEAPPLE MINT SMASH

Inspired by the classic Whisky Smash, this version adds a little extra fruit with the inclusion of pineapple, but it’s still light enough in style to allow Kilinga Bacanora Reposado to be the hero in the glass. Fresh agave and hints of vanilla from the years Kilinga Bacanora Reposado spent in barrel, are complemented by lime and mint and the sweeter, tropical notes of pineapple.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 parts 1 1/2 oz Kilinga Bacanora Reposado
1 Lime (fruit)
1 1/2 tsp 1/4 oz Sugar or Rich Simple Syrup
1 part 1 oz Pineapple Juice
6 Mint Leaves
Glass
Lowball
Process
Muddle & Shake
Ice
Cubed to Shake, Crushed to Serve
Garnish
Lime Wheel & Mint Sprig

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Take half a fresh lime and chop it into 4 chunks
  2. Add lime pieces and sugar to a cocktail shaker and ‘muddle’ to extract juice and oils from the lime
  3. Add Kilinga, pineapple juice and mint leaves to the shaker as well
  4. Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard
  5. Fine strain the drink into a lowball glass
  6. Fold in crushed ice until the ice forms a mound above the rim of the glass
  7. Garnish & Serve
